Houston Awards Ceremony, and a New Endeavor…

Hey everyone! So last time I wrote, I talked about my quilt The Royal Huntress, and I was waiting to go to Houston International Quilt Festival to find out what the results of the competition would be. Well, I went, and here is what happened… Well there you have it folks! When I originally entered my quilt into the competition, I entered it into the “Surface Design” category, which was required because the fabric was custom printed. It could have easily gone into the whole cloth quilt category, or especially the embellished category. Anyway, I guess the judges felt that […]

So much has happened!

I know you’re probably thinking to yourself, “Oh wow. A Blog post from Karlee. She hasn’t blogged in like 43 years!” Well, I know. I am guilty of not keeping up in the blogosphere but it hasn’t been for lack of being productive! So much has been going on, and I wanted to take a moment to share the latest and greatest news with you all. First of all, remember how last year my quilt “Disparity” won first place in the Houston International Quilt Festival? Well, I created another competition quilt for Houston, and not only did it get in […]

The Royal Huntress

For those of you who have been following my work, I’m sure you were dying to see my quilt “The Royal Huntress” all finished! Instead of writing all about it, I made this video to share with you all. This will give you a glimpse into the process, conception, embellishment and completion of this quilt!

Creating new from the old…

Hello buddies! It’s the beginning of a new month, you know what that means! NEW COMPUTERIZED QUILTING DESIGNS! I am so super duper fricken’ super excited to show you this latest collection. But, let me give you a little background first… In about 2013, I was being really super experimental in my free-motion quilting (that experimentation is what lead me to creating and writing the book on Graffiti Quilting.) As I was experimenting with Graffiti Quilting and the many different ways I could use the same technique with different formulas, one formula I came up with was this: -Start at […]

Karlee Curls For Everyone!

Hey my lovely people! I hope you all have been enjoying your 2018 thus far. Things over here have been quite crazy, to say the least. I booked myself a pretty busy first quarter of the year, and I am super excited to tell you all about what I’ve got going on in the next couple months. First of all, for all you computerized quilters out there, as per usual, I have a few new fun designs that have just launched. Over the last 15 years or so (way before I got into quilting) there was this design that I […]

New Year, Same Me.

I know that I am writing this a little bit late into the new year. But I feel like 2018 is going to be just a little bit different for me. Last year, instead of setting concrete New Years Resolutions, I decided to choose a word that I wanted to emulate throughout the year. Last year, that word was “Hustle”. This year, after much soul-searching, I have decided that the word I want to emulate this year is “Content”, as in, learning to be content in life. As in, being content with where I am in life, and not always […]

Putting My Heart & Soul into it…

Hey you lovely people! I hope you all had a glorious Thanksgiving. I sure did. I just wanted to write a quick post and give you a little update on what has been going on lately… As most of you know, I have been designing computerized quilting designs for quite sometime now. A few months ago, I found a way to streamline my process for digitizing that allowed me to adequately capture what my quilting is like when I do free-motion work, and I was able to turn them into computerized quilting designs. For a long time, the number one […]

Update on “Disparity” and other new things…

Back in July I wrote a blog post about the quilt I entered into the Houston International Quilt Festival called “Disparity”. (Click here to read the full story on this quilt.) Well, I got it all shipped off to the show shortly after that. On September 21st, I got an email that said this:   And I was like:   It was so awesome! So then I had to decide if I was going to go to the awards ceremony or not. I kept on going back and forth and back and forth on whether I would go. My wonderful […]

Ask And Ye Shall Receive!

As some of you may know, I am a tiny bit of a hippie, and I love drawing Mandala inspired designs. I published a Mandala coloring book a couple months ago, and I had a ton of people ask me to make a Mandala design that could be used on a computerized quilting machine, or even an embroidery machine. So, I made a couple: These were so fun to create (even though they were pretty time consuming to digitize) the end result was WELL WORTH IT! I even made this fun little box pouch after I quilted out the Mandala […]
