Putting My Heart & Soul into it…

Hey you lovely people! I hope you all had a glorious Thanksgiving. I sure did. I just wanted to write a quick post and give you a little update on what has been going on lately… As most of you know, I have been designing computerized quilting designs for quite sometime now. A few months ago, I found a way to streamline my process for digitizing that allowed me to adequately capture what my quilting is like when I do free-motion work, and I was able to turn them into computerized quilting designs. For a long time, the number one […]

Update on “Disparity” and other new things…

Back in July I wrote a blog post about the quilt I entered into the Houston International Quilt Festival called “Disparity”. (Click here to read the full story on this quilt.) Well, I got it all shipped off to the show shortly after that. On September 21st, I got an email that said this:   And I was like:   It was so awesome! So then I had to decide if I was going to go to the awards ceremony or not. I kept on going back and forth and back and forth on whether I would go. My wonderful […]

Ask And Ye Shall Receive!

As some of you may know, I am a tiny bit of a hippie, and I love drawing Mandala inspired designs. I published a Mandala coloring book a couple months ago, and I had a ton of people ask me to make a Mandala design that could be used on a computerized quilting machine, or even an embroidery machine. So, I made a couple: These were so fun to create (even though they were pretty time consuming to digitize) the end result was WELL WORTH IT! I even made this fun little box pouch after I quilted out the Mandala […]

My run-in with the quilt police…

If you are a quilter (or an artist of any kind) it is no secret that your craft comes with it’s own set of critics- knitting knazis, painting pompouses, seamstress snobs and, in my case, the quilting police. Having been an artist as long as I have (basically my whole life) I am fully aware that any time I create something artistic there will be comments made by critics. But when I first got into quilting, or really more when I got into the piecing portion of quilting, the quilting police seemed to be exceptionally harsh to me. Maybe it […]

Super Sweet Designs, A New Coloring Book, and Hurricane Harvey Relief!

I have been so productive lately! I feel like everyday I am working on something different, but it is all just so fun! I am super grateful to have a baby that likes being my little side kick while I work. The hum of my quilting machine puts him right to sleep! I have been digitizing designs in a new way, and since my new process has been so awesome I have just gotten addicted! (check out my previous blog post to see what I mean). So, I wanted to show you some NEW DESIGNS that I just created! Also, […]

A Computer Did That???

For a long time now, as I have perfected my free motion quilting, some of the most common comments that I get from people watching me over my shoulder are: “Wow! That is so precise it looks like a computer did it!” “Man I wish I could quilt like that, but I have a computerized system. All I have to do is push buttons and it does it for me!” And my personal favorite: “That would be so cool if there was a way I could just plug a flash drive into your brain and download your quilting skills!” Welp, […]

Disparity – Houston International Quilt Competition 2017

If you’ve been following my social media accounts, you’ll know that I was working on a quilt for the Houston International Quilt Festival and Competition that is taking place this coming fall. I have entered the show a few times before (and getting a quilt in to the show is a huge deal in its own right.) I didn’t want to post any photos showing too much until after the deadline for the competition was closed. Color me paranoid but my designs have been knocked off before and didn’t want that to happen again, lol. On top of that, I […]

In Heaven!

We all know the last few weeks I have been very quiet in social media. …which is probably alright, because in the 10 days before I stopped posting, I kind of had an overload of posts. Everyone kept telling me that before you give birth to a baby, you get this huge burst of energy. Well, I got about 7 days worth of energy and finished like 10 quilts in that week! Take a look… I quilted and bound this fun rainbow bargello quilt that I pieced a few months ago. I finally bound this quilt that I pieced and […]

Our Little Buddy

You may remember a few months ago when I made a custom-lettered and custom printed quilt for my dear friend Kaelyn. Well, doing that project opened up my eyes to a whole new style of quilts that I have fallen in love with making! For ease of understanding, as of right now I am calling these quilts “Sentimental Snuggles”. Cute huh? It’s where I take quotes and phrases and words that are meaningful to the subject (in this case our new little baby on the way) and I arranged those words into a design that I would then print on […]

Shimmering Symphony Master Class

5 Years ago, I created this quilt: I had just gotten into free-motion quilting but as many of you know I had already been an artist for several years. It was created for a competition at the Houston International Quilt Festival called “Create Your Style With Swarovski Elements” (yep, THE Swarovski company was the sponsor along with SAQA and Pfaff Sewing Machine Company) The theme was music so I chose to incorporate some of my favorite instruments into the composition. Lo and behold, it won first place! I am guessing if you are reading this post that you have already […]
