I have always really loved this quote! I felt like it just helped keep my feet moving forward on my artistic journey.
This quilt was a good exploration into understanding positive and negative space better. You’ll notice that the lettering of this is just a line, instead of being a shape. We talk a lot about this in section 6 of the book with our quilting motifs and how to make sure those are shapes, and the same applies with lettering.
So, while I really like this quilt, especially because of the Graffiti Quilting around the edges, looking back on the lettering inside the frame just makes me cringe a little bit. But! This is a good thing because it means that I have improved as an artist enough to notice those flaws in my past work and how I would improve them if I were to do this same design over again.
