Mini Quilt Mayhem!

In this course, you’ll learn tons of different motifs that are great for quilting pieced quilt blocks in an interpretive style (when you interpret the piecing of each block so that the quilting accentuates the pieced design.) Whether you are looking to expand your interpretive quilting skills, or you’re a seasoned professional quilter, this quilt project is sure to give you tons of new ideas on how you can quilt some of the more popular traditional and modern quilt blocks. We will be focusing on: Mariners Compass, Double Wedding Ring, Carpenter’s Star, Lone Star, Flower Petals, New York Beauty, and Hexagons!

Something else to consider: many of my students in classes such as this one, where a custom printed quilt top is included, have gone on to purchase the same top again, to practice the designs even more. Karlee will be giving multiple ways to quilt each block and then you’ll pick your favorite. So if you want to, it is helpful to order an extra quilt top so that you can go through the curriculum more than once and choose a different adventure each time. If you’d like to purchase an additional quilt top, you can get it at a discounted rate by click here and adding it to your registration order. It will ship along with your tuition welcome package, and this is a great solution if you just can’t decide on one colorway! Get a couple of them!

For this class, there is no need to piece a quilt top before you start quilting… a gorgeous custom printed quilt top is INCLUDED in your welcome package. Simply grab some batting, choose your backing fabric and get to quilting! In each class session, we will tackle a portion of the quilt and explore various ways that you can quilt each section. You can cut your quilt top into 6 mini quilts, along with a hexagon table runner, or you can leave the quilt top all as one for a gorgeous finished generous throw-sized quilt. At the end of the course, you’ll have a ton of new quilting skills converted into muscle memory. We will cover a wide range of techniques and motifs with an emphasis on secondary design, meaning building our skills with looking at an intricate pieced quilt block and figuring out various ways to interpret those blocks and create secondary designs on top of it.

If you cannot make it to watch every live session, don’t worry! You should still sign up for the class. You can watch and re-watch the live videos anytime you want after they have been conducted. You will also have access to the full Facebook group for at least an additional 3 months after the initial 4 week course has ended. I always just leave the group open as long as there are still people actively watching the videos and participating.

In this class you’ll receive:
-Medium Size “Mini Quilt Mayhem” Custom Printed 68″ x 80″ Quilt Top from  ($100 Value!)
-Honest Fabric Snip Clip ($5 Value)
-Famore Cutlery Mini snip scissors ($8 Value)
-An assortment of Karlee’s Postcards ($10 Value)
-Homemade Caramels from Karlee’s kitchen (Priceless 😉, but you’ll get a recipe card, too!)
-A digital syllabus and schedule, list of supplies and recommendations.
-Access to Private Facebook Group for the duration of the class, as well as at least 3 months after the 4 weeks have ended.
-First priority social media correspondence from Karlee for the duration of the class.

You don’t need to have all your materials before the class begins. You will receive the custom printed quilt top as part of your welcome package, which is 68×80 inches. So, if you plan to leave it all as one quilt, you can decide what backing fabric you’ll use. Sometimes it’s fun to use a super soft fleece or pinky backing, or even just buying a fleece throw blanket is nice because then you can have a backing without any seams. It’s totally up to you. We will talk about thread choices in class, but there is not any one right or wrong answer to that. You can include purchasing supplies as part of your homework after each class if you aren’t sure on how you want your quilt to turn out. We will be doing some straight edge ruler work, so you will need a ruler and if you are using a stand-up longarm machine, also a ruler base. You WILL FOR SURE need to have access to a quilting machine or a sewing machine that allows you to free-motion quilt, as well as an active Facebook account. Facebook is where all the live video classes will take place.
