Optimism.

It has been rainy the past few days. I love the rain. The smell, the sensation of each tiny drop on my face, and the way the streets just feel new afterwards. It is almost as if I am looking at a different street the day after it rains. Really I’m not… but it feels like it. In reality, nothing about the street has changed. It was dry… Then wet… Then dry again. But I think it was my eyes that changed. Sometimes that is all it takes. Changing your eyes. To some people, any given street may be just […]

Will this trial end?

This month has been emotional. Both joyful and sad. I feel like ending this month with a blog post on Easter is quite fitting. I personally have a lot of religious belief tied to Easter Sunday. To each their own. So take this with a grain of salt. This month, my family lost a loved one. She was a daughter, sister, aunt, friend, confidant, and hero. She was an amazing, thoughtful, and wonderfully loving woman. Words cannot express how much she touched the lives of those around her. How much she could just make you feel like the most important […]

Trials.

My dad used to always say, “Trials and tribulations are mandatory- misery is optional.” I remember this sign hanging in his office before I could ever even understand what those words meant. But every day it rings truer than the day before. I chose the theme Trials for the month of March. It really actually feels like this theme chose me. Now, don’t get me wrong. I’m not gonna start playing the “woe is me”….. card. Really, what’s happening is that I feel so aware of the trials of those around me. It is one thing to go through your […]

Change of pace.

This month has been flying by. And the CHANGES on my quilt have been significant. As I have been thinking more about the concept of change and what it means, something dawned on me. Everything changes. There is a quote from a movie that I love. It is a musical. And in one of the songs it says “Seasons may change. Winter to Spring. But I will love you until the end of time.” Bonus points if you can guess the movie. I am thankful for the change of the seasons. I could never really appreciate a beautiful sunny day […]

Slow Change.

This month has seemed to go by slower than January did. Maybe its just me. As I think about change and what it means, I can’t help but feel torn. Some things feel like they just changed over night. I left my job of 3 years to work somewhere else for 3 months to be somewhere that feels like it has only been 3 days. Moving jobs has felt fast and slow at the same time. Some days it feels like just yesterday I was in the warehouse with Lindzee and Arnie pulling pranks on each other and sweating away […]

Change.

Change. This can be the best or worst word in the world. Personally, I think it is a pretty good one. When I think about the new year’s resolutions that people set, or the things I want to accomplish myself this year, it all seems to come back to one key concept. Change. People want to change. People need to change. And people need to know that we all can change. When I think about the silly naive girl that I was when I first started high school, I am SO glad that I am not the same as I […]

Patience is over?

HAH! Trick question. Patience is never over. If it ended, it wouldn’t be patience anymore. So, this month’s quilt has been almost a race to the finish line. (Hence, only one more post on the last day of the month.) And I FINISHED this month’s quilt! Haha I guess it really isn’t that big of a deal to say you are still on track IN JANUARY. But hey, its a big deal for me. Now I better stop talking before I jinx it. Here is the quilt in question (also…proof that I DID in fact finish this month.) So last […]

Patience pays off.

Hello dear friends! My fabric arrived a couple days ago, and I have hit the ground running with quilting it! Speaking of the fabric, if you would like to follow along and do your own quilt-a-month along with me, You can purchase those fabrics designed by yours truly, in advance. I have already added January’s design to my shop, and February’s will be ready to order in just a couple days. Check out my store here or click on the “shop” button at the top of my blog. (I will also be adding other little goodies to the shop here […]

Patience is a virtue…

Aaaaaand….. The patience continues waiting on my fabric to arrive. BUT! On Tuesday, I got an email from the website I ordered it from letting me know that it has indeed shipped!!! Woohoo! So, now it should be here any day. Hopefully tomorrow. And in this experience, I have learned yet another plain and simple truth regarding patience. Great things happen to everyone. We just don’t know when. I don’t know if I mentioned this or not, but in December I got a call from a woman named Becky. From the Standard Examiner news publication. She wanted to do a […]

The Patience continues….

I find it a little serendipitous that patience  is the theme for the first month of the year, for a couple reasons. First, I have found that as I have set my new years resolutions, all I keep thinking about is how I want them to come true!!! The catch is that the only way to know for sure if you have actually followed through is to look back at the end of the year and either say you were faithful to your goals or you weren’t. I am a pretty dang impatient person. I know this. And it is amazing […]
